Common Boxing Defense Mistakes

In the video, I introduce a session on boxing defense, highlighting its importance and discussing common defensive mistakes that many boxers make. I explain that defense is often one of the most challenging aspects for beginners because it’s very different from hitting a bag or practicing combos. Once someone starts punching back, it requires a different level of skill and reaction. The video covers the top defensive mistakes that boxers typically struggle with, aiming to help viewers improve their reaction time and overall defensive technique in the ring.

Boxing Defense Drill | Improve your Reaction and Focus

In this video, I introduce a method to help you improve your defense and reaction in boxing, which is something many of you have asked about. I explain the difference between closed and open drills. Closed drills involve more predictable, fixed movements, like when someone is only throwing a jab or a right hand at you. These types of drills are great for building foundational skills. As you progress, you move to open drills, which are less predictable and more dynamic, helping you react in real-time. The video demonstrates how to incorporate both types of drills to elevate your defensive skills and reaction time in the ring.

Boxing Defense Position for Maximum Coverage | Peekaboo and Philly Shell

In this video, I discuss a key defensive concept that every boxer must master to improve power and control in the ring. Often, we think of active defense as the ideal—catching punches, blocking, or mixing head movement with defensive actions. However, I emphasize the importance of mastering a particular defensive position that will allow you to stay composed, conserve energy, and maintain control in a variety of situations. This foundational position enhances your ability to defend effectively while setting up counterattacks.

Better Counter Punching

In this video, I dive into an important aspect of defense—counter-punching. A lot of boxers have been asking me about how to improve their defense, and one of the key skills to master is the ability to defend and immediately counter. This video focuses on the techniques and drills that will help you recognize openings after blocking or slipping a punch, allowing you to capitalize on your opponent’s mistakes. By the end of this session, you’ll have a better understanding of how to turn defense into offense, using effective counter-punching to stay one step ahead in the ring.

Boxing Defense Drill | How to stop flinching

In this video we focus on a defensive drill that will improve your ability to conserve energy, read your opponent’s shots, and stay in the right position for counterpunching. I also discuss how to avoid flinching, which can lead to being overwhelmed during a fight. The two key elements we focus on are visibility—making sure you can always see the punches coming—and maintaining composure, so you can respond effectively without wasting energy. This drill is designed to help you stay calm and ready for any attack in the ring.
